Entertainment There is so much to do and see in New Orleans. Chez Ellie-Marie is very convenient to many attractions. Our uptown neighborhood is a good place to start. Audubon Zoo is very close to our bed and breakfast, and it is one of the top five zoos in the country. The white alligators, Komodo dragons and white tigers wow everyone who sees them. Two historic universities, Tulane and Loyola, are just a short distance away from our bed and breakfast. The universities are located on famous St. Charles Avenue. Audubon Park is across the avenue. It is known for jogging, biking, golfing, and horse back riding. The park is so beautiful that you might consider having a picnic under one of the many magnolias or stately oak trees. Uptown has many beautiful, historic homes. Take a 40 minute architectural tour of St. Charles Avenue. You’ll see many historic homes that are among New Orleans’ preserved architectural treasures. There are Queen Anne Revival mansions, ornate churches, synagogues, and homes that you’ve seen in movies. Yes, some were in movies! On the way, you’ll pass through the Garden District, the second- largest historic district in the country.
You’ll never want to go home when you dine at the restaurants in our area. They’re in walking distance of Chez Ellie-Marie. What a variety you’ll have! Creole, Cajun, Mediterranean, Thai, and Soul Food are just a few types of cuisine that are served. Just try a stuffed shrimp po-boy ,and you’ll become hooked! Of course, there’s shopping on Magazine Street, one of the oldest and most diverse shopping districts in New Orleans. You’ll find dozens of art galleries, antique shops, bric-a-brac vendors, funky vintage clothing stores, and more. There are six miles of cafes and shops that line Magazine Street. You might find just about everything a person could want.
As you continue to tour other communities in our city, you’ll find a million things to do!
