History of the Home

Chez Ellie-Marie is a two story Craftsman's double that was built around 1915. It is a beautiful, old house that has 19th century ambiance and history coupled with many modern comforts and service.
It is a very inviting and comfortable home that is decorated with antiques and collectibles. That southern style shines throughout Chez Ellie-Marie.

We are located in scenic Carrollton, an uptown area of New Orleans. Carrollton's history dates back to the early 1700's. The neighborhood occupies an area originally acquired in 1719 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, the founder of New Orleans. It was once a separate town and was annexed to New Orleans in 1874. This community was named for General William Carroll who commanded a portion of General Andrew Jackson's army in 1814.

It is home to many architectural styles. As you walk through the area, you will see a mixture of antebellum homes, charming bungalows, renovated cottages and doubles. There is a diversity of restaurants, businesses, churches and coffee shops. These styles all exist serenely side by side throughout the neighborhood.
